How to choose a private-label clothing manufacturer for a Spanish brand

A practical sourcing checklist for Spanish apparel brands comparing private-label production in India, from samples and specifications to import planning.

If you are looking for a fabricante de ropa de marca blanca (private-label clothing manufacturer) for a Spanish brand, the first useful question is not simply “What is your price?” It is “What exactly is included in that price, and how will the garment be approved?”

Jai Sakthi Garments is based in Tirupur, India, and works with wholesale and private-label buyers. A cross-border programme can make sense when the product specification, minimum order, sample process and import plan are clear before production is booked.

Start with a product specification

For a T-shirt, record the fabric composition, target GSM, measurements, fit, colour references, stitching details, label artwork, print or embroidery placement, packing and carton requirements. A reference garment and a graded measurement chart are more useful than a mood board alone. Keep the same specification when asking suppliers for quotes so you can compare like with like.

Ask how the supply chain is organised

Apparel production in Tirupur uses specialist partners as well as individual companies’ own operations. At Jai Sakthi, yarn is bought in; knitting and dyeing/finishing are handled by partner units; cutting, stitching, pressing and packing/export are handled by the company; printing can be in-house for the methods available or handled by partner print houses; embroidery is handled by a partner unit. One company coordinates and is accountable for the order, but the stages are not all under one roof.

Ask your supplier to explain the same distinction for your order. It helps you understand where approvals, quality checks and schedule coordination happen.

Make the sample a real approval gate

Agree what the sample must demonstrate: fabric hand-feel and weight, measurements, shade, construction, print or embroidery, labels and finishing. Send consolidated comments rather than approving individual details in separate messages. Jai Sakthi’s current sample estimate is 20–40 days, depending on the development; confirm the schedule for your specific brief before proceeding. Bulk production should follow only after written sample approval and a final purchase order.

Plan the import separately from production

Ask for a quote that identifies the commercial basis, packing assumptions and what is excluded. Have your freight forwarder or customs broker confirm the route, duties, taxes, documents and delivery terms for your Spanish business. EU product information and textile-labelling obligations should be checked against current rules by the importer or its adviser; do not rely on a supplier’s generic promise of compliance.

Compare suppliers on evidence

Look for specific answers: a measurement sheet, a clear sample route, named approval points, a realistic written schedule, and transparent explanations of partner processes. Ask for recent examples relevant to your product and verify any factory, certification or capacity claim independently. A detailed answer is more useful than an impressive but vague factory description.
